Pittsfield's Public Library:
Local History, Genealogy & Berkshire Authors
Overview of the Athenaeum's Genealogy Collection

All in all the Local History and Genealogy Department occupies an area of approximately 3,500 square feet in the southeast corner of the library's main floor. The collection includes an estimated 21,000 monographs, dozens of area newspapers, more that 7,000 reels of microfilm, 16 titles on microfiche, and a CD-ROM research station for our growing collection of electronic genealogical databases. A highly experienced staff of five, supported by a computerized catalog and a card catalog, numerous indexes and other finding aids, is here to guide you toward effective use of the materials.
