About Our District

"At the start there was one man who militantly believed there was a necessity to make vocational education available to more youngsters. Slowly he infused others with the idea and in the end there was a school that would benefit hundreds of youngsters from the Northern Berkshire area. The man, Charles H. McCann."

On November 3, 1959, the seven communities that now constitutes the Northern Berkshire Vocational Regional School District voted to form the state's first vocational regional school district.

In early 1961 the building contract was awarded and the school opened its doors to students in the fall. In 1969 additional classrooms and a Library Media Center was constructed which allowed for the creation of additional programs.

The school district currently serves 458 undergraduates and 46 post-secondary students and offers state-of-the-art technical instruction in nine undergraduate vocational programs and four post-secondary programs.
