Updating settings in Outlook Express

In order to update Outlook Express to use the new mail server, the following changes need to be made on a previously working installation on Outlook Express.

These instructions are for @berkshire.net Email addresses. Modify as necessary for hosted website accounts.

First, start Outlook Express. Configuration of Outlook Express does not require your computer to be logged into the internet.

Next, select tools from the menu bar..

Login Screen

On the tools dropdown select Accounts.:

Select the account you want to work with and select Properties:

In the tabs across the top, select Servers. In the section labeled Account Name, add @berkshire.net to the username.

The next step depends on how you gain access to the internet. Some ISPs require that you use their outgoing Mail Server. Check with your provider. This has been tested with BerkshireNet's access service.

In the Outgoing mail section place a checkmark in "My server requires authentication and select Settings." and select Settings.

In the Outgoing Mail Server screen, select "Log on using" and enter your username in the form of username@berkshire.net or username@jimbob.com. Enter your password, click on ok all the way out of the settings windows.

Now connect to the internet if necessary and test by sending yourself an email. please call 413 442-7805 if you have a problem (Please check your spelling before calling)
