Run for your Wife
By Ray Cooney
Directed by Christopher Dea

Run For Your Wife : POSTERIt is a superb example of a typical British Farce. The play deals with a house of cards that comes crashing down around a London cabbie (John) who is married to two women (Mary and then Barbara) at the same time, neither of whom knows about the other's existence and lives on each end of the town.

It all comes undone when the cabbie, a rather ordinary chap named John Smith, tries to rescue an elderly woman from the clutches of three muggers and winds up getting clobbered in the head for his troubles. The incident and ensuing treatment at a local hospital throw John's meticulously crafted schedule off-kilter, with increasingly devastating effects.

John's dilemma is not helped much when an upstairs neighbor, Stanley Gardner, who gets the truth out of John and then tries to help, only to make matters worse. Add two police detectives, one sexually charged wife, one play-by-the-rules wife, and a gay dressmaker and you have the elements of chaos, double entendre and innuendo.

Then comes the surprise ending when everything comes together at the end as John tries to explain everything to the very confused police and his two wives.

This production will use the Three Quarter Theater Seating Layout.
